Stie sez: At the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute Przewalski horse Joe enjoys the snow on Jan. 6, 2015. Once declared extinct in the wild, a population of about 500 Przewalski horses now lives in the wild in Mongolia. The horses thrive in cold temperatures and members of the herd at SCBI choose to spend time in the snow.

According to the description: Every few minutes Iago will get up, stretch, and move away… Ringo dutifully follows. This game of very slow tag can continue for ages, back and forth across the paddock!

Description: Sorry, back to this soon!

Caption me – Donkey and Caracara

Classiclol from October 2018

Description: A brown donkey is standing in a green field sprinkled with wildflowers. The donkey’s head is lowered but not far enough to graze. On the donkey’s shoulders is a caracara, a brown-and-white South American bird of prey with no close relatives, which prefers to walk instead of hunting prey from the air. The donkey doesn’t look upset so presumably the bird isn’t digging in while looking around.

Description: A white horse with feathery feet is standing patiently in collar and harness, hitched to a historic horse-drawn bus on a paved road (parking lot?). Beside the visible horse is another one, also white, masked by the one closer to us. There are human legs showing on the far side of them, and a fraction of a figure in the lower right of the photo.

Hey Mom

Originlol title: Stunning, is it not?

Description: A young foal, the same reddish sorrel as its mom, is looking towards the camera. Mom, herself, is to the right, though we can see only her hind legs and hindquarters. The foal has stuck its head through mom’s long tail, or maybe mom swished it and it settled over the foal that way, but it gives the impression of the foal having a startlingly long mane. Text reads, at the top, “Hey Mom,” and at the bottom, “Check Out My Noo Hairdo”
